Rough evening

Greta's massage was great ... but since then, Seamus has pretty much been feeding constantly again. I sent Greta to bed for an hour, and was able to keep him asleep by strategic rocking ... but only for an hour. Then he got another hour's worth of feeding -- after which I sent Greta to bed again, and tried to soothe him to sleep once more (trying to channel Bonu's smooth baby-rocking moves) ... but this time, he never dropped off, and after a half an hour, he started rooting around and crying for food again. Ay caramba!

Greta's not at the end of her rope, but she can see it from here ... she's feeling a bit desperate ... please send some telepathic signals to this voracious little boy: you are getting sleeeeepyyy ... verrrry sleeepppyyyy ...

Thanks to Teri, Sandy ("the other Sandy"), and Mimi for their words of advice and encouragement!

5am update: the little snorcher finally let us sleep for three hours ... that may seem like a very short time, but it was pure bliss for us. I credit the mass telepathy for this. Keep it coming!

My dear Elves, I am sending sympathy and love. Just wait until I get there in another week; babies (and grown men) absolutely fall asleep in my presence. I will rock that child to dreamland, I promise.
Are you guys going to use a pacifier? I've never used one for my kids, but I do think in Seamus's case it might help to ease him between feedings. What say you? What say you? Oh, never mind ... I hope you are sleeping -- that's fine, you can reply in the morning.

Hey Jimbo,

If it makes you feel any better, I'm practicing some serious sleep deprivation myself (working too much, too many early meetings). But of course I don't have a crying baby to feed every hour.

I remember this part, and it passes...really...I know that's little comfort, but it sounds like reinforcements are on the way, in the form of Granny Franny!

Love,

Julie

this maybe a dumb question, are you wrapping him into a burrito very tight? when my mom wraps any baby up, the sleep long naps. i think part of her secret is to make the wrap very snug. that feeling of being inside the womb seems very comforting to new borns. anyhow, you probably already know this...
can i just say that baby is so darn cute. my mom says he looks like greta and he looks so "curioso," which in spanish means something between cute and a wonder. so much has happened since i read last, i had to make time to catch up. thanks for having this very awesomely cool blog!!

much love and support and wishes and blessings from god,

evelin, shannon, leila, and mama

Thanks for your support, ladies ... "curioso", I love it! I just informed Seamus that he's "curioso". He seemed to take it as a complement.

Many more exciting developments since I last posted ... will try to do another post today. In summary, all is well except for some annoying sinus pain that Greta has. Seamus gets cuter every hour.
