Sickos

We have finally reached that heartwarming milestone in every young family's life -- when all of its members are sick at the same time.

I was the first to succumb to this cold virus, followed by Seamus, and then Greta. Today was a test of patience and love, as we diligently suctioned out Seamus' sinuses, sat together in a steamy bathroom, and, later, took turns trudging around the living room with fussy Seamus in arms, mechanically whispering "shh, shh" to him, when all of us (or the two adults, at least) longed to be lying in bed.

(Getting to the bed is a bit of a challenge in itself, since it is surrounded by cheerful-looking drifts of used tissues, the wastebasket having proved too small to contain them all.)

Even at our most exhausted, though, we are still continually amazed by his overwhelming cuteness. And at this moment, all is well: the Schmoo is sleeping peacefully, and Greta and I will soon be joining him.

Here's hoping that tomorrow will be a less taxing day.

He's also got a tooth sticking out---bottom front right, but we don't have a picture of that yet...

Recommunicado

I just checked to confirm it, and it's true: I haven't posted here in over a month. That's almost exactly how long we've been living in Connecticut, and there are many things that I haven't done in that time. I haven't replied to anyone's phone calls, emails, text messages or blog posts; I haven't slept very much (except for one glorious Saturday when Greta took pity on me); and I haven't sent out our new address and phone numbers. To rectify this last point, here's a link to our info. To protect ourselves from evil spambots, the page is password-protected: the password is greeba's previous last name (all-lowercase).

Besides the relocation, so many things have happened since I last posted that there's no way I can fit it all into one post. To briefly summarize: we threw off the crushing weight of post-partum depression ... we packed up all of our important items, discarded the rest (see photo below), and fled Manhattan like refugees ... we were given a car and the beginning of a college fund for seamus ... i began semi-involuntarily biking 6 miles every day ... i learned to sleep while sitting up ... we attended seamus' great-times-four-grandfather's coming-out party ... Auntie Teri visited and blithered ... Greta and Seamus posed for this beach photo, with a picturesque bulldozer in the background ... and every morning, we were amazed to observe that Seamus seemed to have become even cuter overnight.

I will try to fill in the details of all of these things, but in the meantime, I just want to see that I'm sorry that I've been uncommunicative, and I've missed all of you terribly. I will post again soon ...
