Seamus' Fashion Show

Way back when, our friend Leila did an excellent fashion show for us. Seamus must be a kindred spirit, because he did the same thing for us this evening.

Seamus, you are fierce! Ferosh! Work it, baby!

Random Schmoo-ness

Wednesday, April 09, 2008

seamus is really changing these days in fundamental ways. he lies on the floor to play, rolling his cars back and forth, watching intently. he makes a car sound 'burburbur'. it's awful cute-like. he also has started being afraid of things. a bag of red crinkly packing material fell off of the shelf yesterday and he just looked at it in horror and screamed. today he was playing with a cool spider pull toy that he has played with many times and he strted getting agitated and pointing at its eyes. time to put that away for a couple of months!

we will post pictures soon. someone tell jim to hook up the thing where you put the camera card thingie.

Sweet relief

For the past week or so (ten days? two months? it all blurs together), Seamus has been struggling with a cold, a fever, and an ear infection ... in spite of which, he was in a pretty good mood, because that's how schmoos are ... *except* when he would get tired. He was having a really hard time getting to sleep, and then was having a hard time staying asleep (because of the fever and nasal congestion). *Plus* he was teething again. Antibiotics cleared up the ear infection -- and, as of last night, the teething pain, congestion, and fever were all finally gone, too.

Up until last night, Greta and I had been surviving (barely) on less than five hours a sleep a night. And, because of the teething, Seamus had been *biting* her while nursing. Those of us who have never had our nipples chomped on by sharp little teeth can't know how that feels ... but it was of course very stressful and upsetting for Greta.

So this morning has been the greatest morning in the history of humanity. Seamus went to bed extra-early -- 12:30am -- and didn't get up until 9:30am. Ahh sweet sweet sleep ... now the birds are singing, the sun is shining, and all is right with the world. Plus Seamus is extra cute and his hair is sticking up in a very funny way.

Sleep deprivation makes me *very* cranky ... but Greta paid me an excellent compliment this morning: "You managed to not be a *complete* jerk most of the time this past week."
