Sickos

We have finally reached that heartwarming milestone in every young family's life -- when all of its members are sick at the same time.

I was the first to succumb to this cold virus, followed by Seamus, and then Greta. Today was a test of patience and love, as we diligently suctioned out Seamus' sinuses, sat together in a steamy bathroom, and, later, took turns trudging around the living room with fussy Seamus in arms, mechanically whispering "shh, shh" to him, when all of us (or the two adults, at least) longed to be lying in bed.

(Getting to the bed is a bit of a challenge in itself, since it is surrounded by cheerful-looking drifts of used tissues, the wastebasket having proved too small to contain them all.)

Even at our most exhausted, though, we are still continually amazed by his overwhelming cuteness. And at this moment, all is well: the Schmoo is sleeping peacefully, and Greta and I will soon be joining him.

Here's hoping that tomorrow will be a less taxing day.

Lovely photo for this post.
Sorry to hear you're sick. Isn't today Jim's birthday? Happy birthday. I hope no one has to have his sinuses suctioned today.
Hoskeebo!

Ah, blow, blow, thou sicko kids -- how touching to know you three do everything together. And what a way to spend your birthday/anniversary: very romantic. Welcome to family life. Would you like me to tell you (again) about the Christmas we all had intestinal flu, in our early family life? No? OK.
