Farewell (for now), Nanabanana!

Sandy's been gone about 24 hours now, and boy, do we miss her. The dishes are piling up in the sink, the garbage is overflowing, and it would have been great to have her moral support and comfort during Seamus' overnight feeding marathon last night.

On the other hand, it was very sweet to see how happy she and Grampy Cliff were to be reunited ... as much as Greta & I love her, we don't want to hog her to ourselves.

Also, there is something nice about having just our little family here for now. I feel closer than ever to Greta and Seamus today.

I'm looking forward to when we can take Seamus up to visit Cliff and Sandy in Milford -- especially because we'll be able to introduce him to his great-grandmother, who I believe has been saving up a lot of love to lavish upon him.

Update: I'm coming back to this post after a few hours ... Seamus was very good to us today; he has consistently slept in over-two-hour stretches, including one blissful four-hour stretch. Greta and I were able to recharge our batteries, and we feel a thousand percent better. I was able to make us some dinner, take out the trash, check the mail, and do some of the dishes.

We talked to midwife Karen again this evening, and she reassured us once more that Greta's low fever is "nothing tragic" -- she probably has a virus, but overall she feels pretty good, so her body seems to be fighting it off. If it gets worse, I'll take her to see Seamus' doctor -- who, as a family practitioner, can take care of her as well as our baby.

Greta's napping with Seamus right now, but I think we'll be okay overnight tonight, even if Seamus decides to upload several gallons of milk to an alternate dimension again tonight. Thanks to all of you who offered your sympathy and support.

My internet connection was down for a 2 days and I can't belive how much I missed in the life of the NY elves!

What life-daring adventures and close calls. I'm glad to hear that Greta is doing well and health is returning.

And of course - Meter maids are certainly a specific breed - i do think they are aliens sent to test our ability to rage against the machine in a small way. I've had serveral encouters and have passed with flying colors - in other words - pleading and then sarcastic remarks shouted to the retreating saunter of the alien.

Mostly, now that nanabanana is home sweet home (I'm sure she misses all of you!) I'm sending out good energies for Greeb and Jimma to keep flowing with wee Seamus' rapid changes. The advice from the hippie-dippie site is perfect - this 'baby zone' is one of endless challenge and change. I really do think it prepares us for the rhythm of parenting - ever ready to adapt to whatever need and developmental phase ensues.

Sending love and visions of sleep, sleep, sleep. Bizzer
