- Karen Jefferson, midwife.
- Martine Jean-Baptiste, midwife. Separately, these two are formidable midwives. Together, there are an unstoppable baby-delivering machine. One of the two of them (whoever is available) will attend the birth.
- Bonu de Caires, doula. She was our RealBirth instructor, and we liked her so much we asked her to be our doula -- especially once she told us that she had delivered her own child at home. Plus, she a UMass alumna. Go Minutepersons!
- Jada Shapiro, doula. Bonu isn't available until after Greta's birthday (Jan. 21st), so Jada will do the doulaing if he arrives before then.
- Yours truly -- providing backrubs and a convenient person to blame for "getting us into this mess".
- The inestimable NanaBanana, dealing with anything else not covered by the rest of the crew -- especially being Greta's Mom. None of the rest of us can do that!
I wonder if I should get us "Team Seamus" t-shirts to wear on delivery day.
I also went all the frigging way out to Dyker Heights (famous for having NYC's most garish Christmas displays) today to pick up a co-sleeper. I was able to go without a coat, though, because of the freakish weather that we're having.
Now we just need to get Seamus turn in the right direction and drop his little head into Greta's pelvis ... but at least everything's ready for him now!

Oh my... well...you certainly have moved up a notch PapaBear...
Me? "inestimable"?
Can I put that on a résumé?
Nana looking for high paying job for just giving love and nurture. Sounds good to me! :- )
I am making my list of what to bring to NYC today. Look for the moving van to arrive soon! ONLY KIDDING!
Greta to Jim: "Oh god, Jim, what have we done?"
Oh! I am going to send a list of THINGS TO DO WHILE IN LABOR TO TAKE YOUR MIND OFF OF SAID LABOR!
Sounds like you kids have everything in place! BRAVO. (thumbsup... clap clap)

OK, now I'm jealous; wish it was me packing up for NYC! .... but seriously, Nanabanana, we are all happy that you can be on-site and on duty.
Just wanna say, Jim, that I love the url links you include in your broadcasts: the Dyker Heights display nearly bugged my eyes out.... and the picture of what a co-sleeper really is should stop the crazy family commentaries, I hope.
Though I can't be there for the event, please know, dear Elves, that I am carrying the three of you in my mind and heart, from here to eternity -- and can't wait to see you in February.
Mombo 2...
I will have your energy by my side.
I will help your son be the great husband and father you know in your heart he is meant to be.
I will take photos and send email updates.
I will be your representative!
NanaBanana
Dear Nanabanana,
You are hereby commissioned to act as both Mombo and Mombo 2, on-site at Seamus' advent into this beautiful old world. Since we both love our Elves, I know I can trust them to your very capable hands.
With my blessings,
Mombo 2
The grandmas are getting mushy already...look out, kids!
But seriously, it's been said many times in this family that Jim and Greta are going to be Most Excellent Parents, without a doubt.
Just catchin up on all the blogging after our Santa Barbara surfin' safari...does anyone read posts this far down in the Blog?

JULIE...
YES! I check back many mornings to see what comments have been added! LOVE THEM!
EVELIN...
How the heck are ya?!!! How cool would it have been for you to have made all of Grets fav foods during this time? Alas... I can only make applesauce and brown rice... And your little muchkin would have been a wonderful photo-op as she peered at Seamus in the cosleeper! Tell Shannon, I will do my best to make the photos of the event, worthy of his viewing!
Hi to everyone down in TX.
