Somehow, the sinister capitalist forces that control our lives seem to know exactly when Seamus is due to arrive. In a brazen attempt to turn him into a good little consumer even before he's born, various companies have been sending us free samples of baby stuff: diapers, lotions, and not one, but two cases of baby formula. Just like pushers, they give you the first fix for free ...
I would be much more appreciative if, say, Ben & Jerry's sent us free samples. Unlike baby formula, their product is actually necessary for one's health.

Um, how DO they know about Seamus? Did you register somewhere in some "baby coming soon" database?
I don't remember getting free stuff, except what the hospital sent home with us.
I think via John Poindexter's Total Information Awareness program.
Actually, I think it's because we signed up BabyCenter.com ...
Is there somewhere I can sign up and get, like, free samples of chocolate?
I think SeesCandy.com needs to provide a public outreach service! Samples should be mailed to PMSing women at precisely the right week.
Pregnant women may prefer instead foot massages...
Actually on further thought: ALL of the above for ALL.
Auntie T (of course! ;)
I am sure it is the Babys R Us and Baby Depot registers that sell their lists!
