Jim has been reading this book to Mango most nights. It's a book from my childhood. The illustrations are hilarious. A bunch of crazy hounds in cars, on bikes, on scooters, in bed---and one bossy little bird.
Our first family time together. It's really sweet.

My kids always preferred "Go, Dog! Go!" to "The Cat in the Hat".
For obvious reasons.
Dogs rule.
I read that book to my little brother about a hundred times when we were kids. I love the part in the tree--such an oddly satisfying conclusion. Makes no sense and makes perfect sense at the same time.
Every time I read it, I am frustrated by the fact that the author attempts to rhyme "that tree" and "dog party".
We have others in this series...in the attic, I think. Coming right up!!! Do you also have "The Small Pig"? He is my FAVE.

We only have Go, Dog. Go!
That would be very cool, Auntie Teri!!
I would just like to interject that The Cat in the Hat has contributed to the slang in this household (and others where there are two kids, like my friend Tina's): you can call your kids Thing One and Thing Two. When they're naughty or exasperating or when you forget their actual names.

PS - slightly used good books will be sent to Mango after I get them out of the attic!
