Everywhere I go now, I'm fascinated by parents with boys in tow -- I can see my future in them. I'm really looking forward to doing all of that boy stuff with Seamus: taking him to soccer practice, or the zoo, or to watch the dogs at the dog run ... so many fun things to look forward to.
Greta and I had a great time hanging out with my nephews over the Thanksgiving break ... they made us laugh, and impressed us with their talents (Tris: origami, recorder, Houdiniesque escapes; Wes: drumming and cyclocross). Actually, I was quite blown away by Wes' drumming, and I'm sure he'll be playing in a band soon. Can't wait to see what Seamus will be into about a decade from now!

Boys rule. They really do.
My relationships with Stephanie and Danny are completely different, equally rewarding, but I think I am more surprised by how much I have enjoyed every "boy stage" of Danny's life.
You kids are in for the greatest adventure of all.
But go see a few movies while you still can (if Greta can sit for that long...).
Oh Jim and Greta, it is so touching to read your posts about my boys. Of course I am biased when I think they are so cool, so great, so fun...ALL THIS CAN BE YOURS!!!! In fact, Tris told me is going to teach Seamus how to make an origami balloon...and I am sure he will, after a wee bit.
I keep thinking of that Sweet Honey in the Rock version of "Your Children"..."are not your children, they are the sons and daughters of life, longing for itself, they come through you but not to you..."
Ah, sing it loud, sing it long.
You will love being parents. We can't wait to see you this way! You are already super auntie and uncle.
Love
