We took Seamus down to the mill pond in the center of Milford yesterday. He enjoyed watching Greta feed the ducks, geese, swans, and seagulls that congregate there ... I enjoyed it even more, because Greta was terrified by them. She thought they might possibly peck her to death, or perhaps trample her with their little webbed feet. I'm not sure exactly what she thought was going to happen to her, actually, but it was very funny to watch.
This video is dedicated to Granny Franny, in fond remembrance of the days when we used to chase the pigeons in St. Peter's Square towards her.

Just to let everyone know...
Greta did grow up in the burbs
and was exposed to nature!
To many years in the city perhaps?
Had you just watched the movie
"The Birds"?
What I want to know is what was
"the Seamus" reaction to all of this?
Jim? !!! You use to chase the pigeons towards your mother for fun? Egads.. Fran? Any stories on that?
i hate seagulls. like i said before, too beaky!

I like the lure of food then screaming, "GET AWAY!"
The carrot and the stick.
So Greta.
the video is sweet, and Jim, you might want to watch how much you mock your wife AND your mother.
Also, even people who are not afraid of birds should be afraid of gulls. They're pure evil.
Oh, and this has nothing to do with this posting, but I'm so excited about your link to the Blog of "Unnecessary" Quotes. It's one of Dave's favorite pet peeves. He really dislikes when people put chicken or other meats in quotes.

I agree, wholeheartedly, with your warning to Jim.
I will add Mother In Law to that list of those NOT to mock!

Hey, by virtue of the fact that I live in America's Oldest Seaport, I just have to wing in and say I AGREE, seagulls are gross and horrible, pigs with no scruples, rats with wings!
In the movie "Finding Nemo," I was very amused that the seagulls had only one word in their vocabulary...whereas, all the other creatures, great and small, were totally eloquent. The seagulls just yelled "MINE!" over and over.
Incidentally, the guy who wrote "Finding Nemo" is originally from Rockport, MA. Consider his seagull representation a documentary.

Richard Bach would be totally dismayed at your phobia.

But it made ME laugh at you.
'twas ever thus.
