Thanks to modern aeronautics, we are at this moment three thousand miles from home, relaxing in my father's office room, which has been converted into a guest bedroom for us.
We were worried about how Seamus would take to flying, but he exceeded all of our hopes by a) sleeping a fair amount and b) generally being in a very good mood when awake. In fact, he was so happy that he totally charmed everyone with whom he came in contact. He made friends with two young women sitting in front of us, another young woman behind us, and all of the flight attendants. One of them even threatened to steal him by putting him into her carry-on.
A plane actually seem to be a great environment for him: there's constant white noise to soothe him, interesting stuff to look at outside the window, and, most of all, lots of people to interact with. Whenever I see him being ultra-gregarious, I think to myself, "That's Grandpa Jude's genes coming out."
Here's the little boy enjoying some applesauce at 30,000 feet:

Seamus!
Looks like you took to the sky with ease.
Enjoy your time with the West Coast gang!
You are a charmer for sure!
Then... HURRY HOME!
The East Coast kitties all miss you!
so they said, tonight over a yummy cat-food dinner.
Love...
NanaBanana, Grampy and Tony
Well done, wee Seamus! And we're glad everyone is safe and sound in SB tonight...
Oh, be sure to ask Uncle Bryan for flying lessons!
Those of us who enjoy this blog eagerly await the Blithering Grandparents entry.
Love
Auntie Teri
Blither! Blither! I got to feed Seamusito his first Mexican food yesterday -- that lad can put away rice and beans, like nobody's business -- and I introduced him to tortilla chips and guacamole -- oh, boy, does he love that ..... So the three elves are safe in beautiful, almost-sunny Santa Barbara, and we await the arrival of the other "adorers" from northern California today.
Nanabanana, thanks a million for "letting" us share this holiday with your wonderful grandson.
Hey GF...
It's like the song...
Our children are not our children.
He is the son of life's longing for itself.
We are just so fortunate to share a similar path... journey.
Enjoy every Seamusito moment.
though I miss him
(oh and I guess his "rents" too!)
I know I will see him soon enough.
The cats are wondering what's up with the quiet apt, but I told them.. not to worry, Seamus will be back soon!
Give the boy a kiss and tell him that Nana and Grampy love him!
