Today, in the interests of taking care of the caretaker Iand courtesy of Elizabee and Leenie), I visited Margi Green the massage queen. She lit a candle, gave me sips of spring water with fresh lemon wedge, put on new-agey music and got to work on my tension-laden neck and shoulders. ("A mess!," she clucked; "you must come back soon!") (No argument there.)
As I relaxed and emptied my mind...demons swam in. The fact that I had just read the police reports detailing the assault on Shawn had much to do with it. They swirled and menaced and I trembled and tears began to swell. Margi of course noticed, wisely asked no quetions, but said soothingly, "Now, you must fill your mind with something else, something that delights you." WHAT? I thought in a panic.
Seamus eating sweet potatoes, yum yum yum. Seamus came to me when I needed him and "my favorite movie" played in my memory and banished the evil and frightening images. Yum yum yum, I hummed to myself. "Ahhh, much better, whatever that was, sooooo much better" the perceptive Margi breathed.
